courses

The cij offers bespoke training to investigative journalists and researchers in the UK, and internationally.

Pioneers in Computer Assisted Reporting (CAR) in the UK, since 2003 we have run an annual summer school, providing cutting-edge training in technical and theoretical skills, married to expertise and insight from the highest levels of investigative journalism.

We also offer practice-based one-off workshops in CAR to industry, higher education, and NGOs. These cover: advanced internet research, Freedom of Information theory and practice, and the application of spreadsheet, database and mapping technologies toward supporting and inspiring ideas for investigative research.

Here are some recent courses:

Web Investigator: Find Hidden Information. Save Time. Stay Invisible.
While the motives and outcomes may be different, there are many similarities between investigative journalism and computer hacking. Mike Schrenk will guide you through these practical, hands-on training sessions that will identify a few hacker-tricks of particular use to journalists.

Understanding Company Accounts
