
David Donald is data editor at the Center for Public Integrity in Washington. His current interests include financial, housing, and healthcare analysis and new tools for data analysis.
Prior to joining the Center in 2008, he served as training director at Investigative Reporters and Editors and the National Institute for Computer-Assisted Reporting for five years. He conducted nearly 200 training events in the United States and internationally with a focus on investigative skills and data analysis to uncover fraud and other governmental abuse.
Donald also spent 11 years at the Savannah Morning News in Georgia where he was research and projects editor. Among his many stories, he’s investigated the re-segregation of public schools, race relations, issues surrounding aging population, and financial institutions behind the financial meltdown.
His work has been part of stories that have won three Batten Awards and two Hammet Awards for ethical and courageous journalism. He has taught at high school and college levels, including five years at Savannah State University. He also holds a master’s in journalism from Kent State University.
